簡介
哈佛大學博士，香港城市大學比較文學與翻譯講座教授，瑞典皇家人文、歷史及考古學院外籍院士、歐洲科學院院士，曾任加州大學河濱分校教授。在比較文學等領域著述豐富，中英文著作包括The Tao and the Logos（1992）,Mighty Opposites: From Dichotomies to Differences in the Comparative Study of China （1998）,《走出文化的封閉圈》（2000）、《中西文化研究十論》（2005）,Unexpected Affinities: Reading across Cultures （2007）等。
